Explore the Cosmic Embrace of Arp 142

Dive into the wonders of the universe with our James Webb Telescope: Interacting Galaxies Arp 142 Panorama Poster. This stunning image captures the dynamic interaction between two galaxies, affectionately known as the Penguin and the Egg, showcasing their gravitational dance and the spectacular star formation that results from their embrace.

Arp 142 lies 326 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Hydra.

A Closer Look at Arp 142

This captivating poster reveals the intricate details of Arp 142, which consists of:

  • The Penguin (NGC 2936): A distorted spiral galaxy that has undergone significant transformation due to its interaction with the Egg. Its coiled arms have unwound, creating a mesmerizing appearance reminiscent of a penguin’s shape, complete with a beak and tail.
  • The Egg (NGC 2937): A compact elliptical galaxy filled with older stars. Its stable structure contrasts with the Penguin, as it lacks the gas and dust necessary for new star formation.
  • Star Formation: The interaction between these galaxies has triggered a remarkable increase in star formation within the Penguin, producing approximately 100 to 200 new stars annually—far more than our Milky Way, which forms about six to seven stars per year.

Why You Should Own This Poster

  • Educational Value: Perfect for astronomy enthusiasts and students, this poster serves as an engaging educational tool that illustrates the processes of galactic interactions and star formation.
  • Stunning Visuals: The vibrant colors and intricate details captured by the James Webb Space Telescope make this poster a striking addition to any space, whether it’s for your home, office, or classroom.

Service and quality

We currently live in Phnom Penh and we don’t see many stars at night so we bought the big Omega Centauri picture. It only took 6 days to reach us and the quality and details in the picture were amazing, so many stars. We love it and so do our guests. Many thanks to Adam and Astrography. The plan is now to buy a few more!

Questions, answered

Anything else — support@astrography.com, answered the same day.

Is this a real photograph?

Yes. Every image is original photography — NASA, ESA, Hubble and JWST archives, observatory data, or Adam’s own telescopes — faithfully remastered in our studio. Any visible grain is inherent to deep-space photography at extreme distance. We keep it, because it’s part of what makes the image real.

How long does delivery to Poland take?

Every print is made to order in 2–4 business days, then delivered in 3–5 more. Typical door-to-door time: 2–4 business days, fully tracked.

Will I pay customs, duties, or import fees?

No. Shipping is shown and paid at checkout, and after that there are no surprise charges — no customs, duties, or carrier fees on delivery.

Should I choose Poster or Fine Art?

Poster (semi-gloss) is our best-value option with vivid contrast and a subtle sheen. Fine Art (matte) is museum-grade cotton paper with archival pigment inks rated for 100+ years and zero glare — the finish we recommend for space imagery and the one we hang in our own studio.

Is a frame included?

No — your print arrives rolled in a rigid protective tube. All sizes match standard frames, so any off-the-shelf frame fits.

What if it arrives damaged?

We replace damaged or misprinted prints free of charge, no return shipping required.

Can I return it?

Yes — you have 30 days. Hang it, live with it, decide slowly. If it doesn’t make the wall better, send it back for a full refund, no questions asked.
