The Pillars of Creation are set off in a kaleidoscope of color in NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope’s near-infrared-light view.
The artwork shown is a visualization of data from different telescopes, taken in different spectral lines. The Pillars of Creation is a small region within the vast Eagle Nebula, which lies 6,500 light-years away and was captured by Webb’s Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam) and Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI), Hubble Space Telescope.
The data was combined to create a consistent color and visual image, resulting in the richest informative representation of this object up to date.
