Captured on March 25, 2018, this detailed lunar portrait was taken using a 16" telescope with an astronomical camera and a red filter, achieving an impressive focal length of 7.2 meters.
To create this remarkable image, a mosaic of 27 individual fragments was meticulously assembled, revealing intricate lunar craters hundreds of meters in diameter. Possibly the largest image of the Moon ever captured from Earth, this photograph represents over 170 gigabytes of data, recorded in just 17 minutes.
