About Astrography

A small studio
that never stopped
looking up.

Astrography was founded by Adam Jesionkiewicz — designer and astrophotography pioneer, nearly 30 years behind the lens. Today a handful of people design, print and pack everything here: original charts, blueprints and celestial maps, alongside reinterpreted data from Hubble, JWST, NASA and ESA. Warsaw, Poland.

How it began A note from the founder

It started because I couldn't stop looking up. For nearly thirty years I have been travelling to dark skies around the world, photographing things most people never get to see with their own eyes. The first collection came back from South Africa.

Selling prints was not the plan; it followed from a problem. Scale is the whole point of astronomy, and a screen has none. So the studio grew out of a garage into a production setup of our own, so that nothing between the file and the paper is left to somebody else's defaults.

What the studio makes

Two kinds of work sit side by side here. The first is our own design: original charts, spacecraft blueprints and celestial maps, drawn from real catalogues and mission documents.

The second is raw data from professional observatories — Hubble, JWST and others. Analysing it, selecting frames and often reinterpreting them into something you would want on a wall is a slow, manual job. Raw data is not a picture: it arrives as separate narrow-band exposures with gaps, artefacts and satellite trails, and turning it into a print is a few hundred editorial decisions about colour, contrast and framing. All material is either officially licensed or from public-domain scientific archives.

In-house production

Large-format printers producing astronomy prints in the Astrography studio.

Every product is printed in-house, or through a curated network of local labs depending on where you live. Local production means faster delivery, no customs fees and a lower environmental footprint.

We print with eco-friendly technology on premium substrates, no mass-market shortcuts. Every file goes through individual colour calibration and quality control before it ships. The recipes behind that come from years of testing combinations of ink, paper and finish specifically for space imagery, where deep blacks and fine detail matter more than anywhere else.

Who is behind it

A flat organisation: owners who came in early and stayed, four people running the company day to day, one person accountable for each marketing channel, and printing done by our own hands. Accounting and law sit with long-term external partners.
