Stefan Lenz's journey to capture this stunning image began during the pandemic when he received his new telescope, the Esprit 120mm, and camera, the ASI ZWO 6200mm. With lockdowns in place, he turned his balcony into an astrophotography platform, discovering the incredible capabilities of modern CMOS sensors even in a Bortle 7 to 8 light pollution zone.

This experience not only allowed him to test his new equipment but also led to significant learning about calibration and post-processing techniques that can dramatically enhance astrophotography results.

Lenz has traveled to various locations, such as Namibia, Colorado, and the Canary Islands, to collect light for his art.
