Marzena Rogozińska – a psychologist and educator by profession, has been engaged in astrophotography since 2020, combining science, art, and travel. She has photographed, among others, the Milky Way in Europe and Hawaii, the aurora borealis in Norway and Iceland, a total solar eclipse in the USA, and southern sky objects in Namibia.

She develops projects, publishes her photographs in astronomical magazines, and conducts workshops and lectures. Her work has been distinguished twice within NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) project (2021 and 2025).

Aurora over Mount Kirkjufell: Where calm meets power

Picture this: You're standing in your home, but instead of staring at blank walls, your eyes are drawn to one of nature's most breathtaking phenomena—the Northern Lights dancing above Iceland's most iconic peak.

This isn't just another photograph. This is Marzena Rogozińska's Aurora over Mount Kirkjufell—a museum-quality piece that transforms any space into a window to the Arctic night.

    The Story Behind the Frame

October 2024. Sub-zero temperatures. Fierce Atlantic winds. Most photographers would have packed up and gone home. But Marzena Rogozińska—a twice NASA-honored astrophotographer—waited. For hours. In conditions that would make most people retreat.

The result? A moment when the universe aligned perfectly.

Green auroral waves—caused by excited oxygen atoms colliding 60 to 120 miles above Earth—ripple across Iceland's darkest autumn sky. Below them, Mount Kirkjufell rises like a sentinel, its symmetrical cone shape earning it the nickname "Game of Thrones mountain". And in the foreground, Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall guides your eye through the composition, leading you from the rushing water to the cosmic spectacle above.

Why This Print Belongs in Your Collection

    • For the Art Collector: This isn't mass-produced wall filler. Marzena Rogozińska has been recognized twice by NASA for her astrophotography mastery. Her work represents the intersection of scientific precision and artistic vision—the kind of piece that appreciates in both cultural and monetary value.
    • For the Space Enthusiast: You know the science. You understand that this green glow represents oxygen atoms in their excited ¹S state, releasing photons at precisely 557.7 nanometers. You appreciate that this image was captured during peak solar activity, when auroral displays reach their most dramatic. This print speaks your language.
    • For the Interior Designer: Your clients demand the unique, the conversation-starting, the unforgettable. How many homes feature generic landscapes? How many walls display genuine cosmic phenomena captured by a NASA-honored artist? This piece transforms spaces from ordinary to extraordinary.
    • For the Gift Seeker: You want something meaningful. Something that says, "I thought about you." A print that combines the raw power of nature with artistic craftsmanship—wrapped in museum-grade quality that lasts over 200 years—speaks volumes.

    The Astrography Difference

We don't offer every aurora photograph on the internet. We curate. We search through thousands of images to find the ones that matter—the ones with technical excellence, artistic vision, and genuine storytelling power.

This image survived our selection process because it delivers:

    • Composition mastery: The river leads your eye naturally from foreground to mountain to sky
    • Technical excellence: Double exposure technique revealing both landscape detail and aurora dynamics
    • Emotional resonance: The harsh beauty of Iceland's wilderness meeting the ethereal grace of the Northern Lights
    • Premium quality: Museum-grade Fine Art prints lasting over 200 years, or budget-friendly poster options—your choice

    Make It Yours

Every morning, you'll wake up to this. Every evening, guests will stop mid-sentence to stare. Every day, you'll own a piece of the Arctic night—a moment when an award-winning astrophotographer defied freezing winds and waited for the cosmos to perform.

Don't settle for ordinary walls. Claim your aurora.
