Marzena Rogozińska – a psychologist and educator by profession, has been engaged in astrophotography since 2020, combining science, art, and travel. She has photographed, among others, the Milky Way in Europe and Hawaii, the aurora borealis in Norway and Iceland, a total solar eclipse in the USA, and southern sky objects in Namibia.

She develops projects, publishes her photographs in astronomical magazines, and conducts workshops and lectures. Her work has been distinguished twice within NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) project (2021 and 2025).

Startrails Above the Namibian Savanna: Where Time Stands Still and the Universe Dances

Eight hours. Nine hundred frames. One dead tree reaching for infinity.

This is what happens when Earth spins beneath some of the darkest skies on the planet—and Marzena Rogozińska was there to capture every second of it.

The Photograph That Makes Time Visible

Standing alone in the Namibian savanna at Hakos Astrofarm—1,800 meters above sea level, under Bortle 1 skies—this solitary acacia becomes the axis around which the entire southern cosmos revolves. The south celestial pole sits precisely within its crown, as if the branches themselves are cradling the spinning universe.

This isn't just a photograph. It's a meditation on our place in the cosmos. While that tree stood motionless through the African night, every star in the southern sky traced its ancient circular path around it—900 perfect arcs captured over eight relentless hours. The contrast is profound: stillness versus motion, death versus eternity, Earth versus the infinite.

Why This Image Belongs on Your Wall

    • For the Space Enthusiast: You're looking at pure astronomical phenomenon—the south celestial pole made visible through long-exposure astrophotography, captured in one of only a handful of locations on Earth where such clarity is possible. This is Bortle 1 territory, where light pollution doesn't exist and the universe reveals itself completely.
    • For the Art Collector: Marzena Rogozińska is a NASA-recognized astrophotographer whose work has twice earned the prestigious Astronomy Picture of the Day distinction. Her compositions blend scientific precision with artistic vision—this image demonstrates masterful framing, with the celestial pole positioned exactly within the tree's crown, creating visual poetry from physics.
    • For the Interior Designer: The symmetry. The geometry. The contrast between warm earth tones and cool celestial blues. This piece anchors a space with both visual drama and intellectual depth. It's a conversation starter that works in modern minimalist settings and classic study environments alike.
    • For the Gift Seeker: Give someone the night sky. Give them time made visible. Give them a reminder that while we rush through our days, the cosmos continues its patient, eternal dance overhead.

    What Makes This Print Museum-Worthy

Astrography doesn't just find beautiful space images—we curate them.

This photograph represents hundreds of hours of planning, execution, and post-processing expertise. Marzena traveled to Namibia specifically for this shot, timing her expedition to May 2025 for optimal atmospheric conditions. She stacked 900 individual 30-second exposures using specialized software, then refined color and contrast in Adobe Photoshop to maintain the natural appearance of both sky and landscape.

When you choose our Fine Art Giclée printing, you're preserving this technical and artistic achievement in museum-grade quality with a lifespan exceeding 200 years. Or select our premium poster version for a budget-friendly way to bring cosmic wonder into your space.

This is your wall's transformation: from blank space to portal. From ordinary room to observatory. From four walls to infinite sky.
