Rod Prazeres is an award-winning astrophotographer from Brisbane, Australia, with a passion for capturing the beauty and complexity of the night sky. Rod’s journey into astrophotography has been a blend of technical mastery and artistic exploration. Specializing in deep-sky targets, Rod’s images showcase stunning nebulae, star clusters, and supernova remnants, blending science and art to reveal the wonders of the universe.

Rod’s work has gained significant recognition in the astrophotography community. His images have earned multiple top picks on Astrobin, features on AAPOD2 and media outlets, including Space.com and Yahoo! News. Rod has also been awarded distinctions in prestigious competitions such APP, AstroCamera and the highly prestigious Astronomy Photographer of the Year (APY16). Notable work like “Eruption of Eternity” (Carina Nebula) is currently on display at the Royal Greenwich Museum in London.

Rod is known for his innovative use of narrowband imaging, meticulous post-processing techniques, and a passion for pushing the limits of his equipment. His transition into using PixInsight marked a turning point in refining his skills, allowing him to create striking images with an emphasis on detail, color, and the hidden structures of deep space.
