It is hard to find more anthropomorphic shapes in the visible cosmos than in the Ghost Nebula.
This metaphysical object, designated Sh2-136, VdB 141, is actually a reflection nebula located in the constellation Cepheus, approximately 1,500 light-years from Earth. In the center of the photo, a very visible Bok globule cataloged as CB230 having a diameter of 2 light years. The brown color of the nebula is due to the emission of neighboring young stars.
Exposure - 9 hours. Photo taken from a private observatory near Warsaw.
