Stephan's Quintet (Webb with Hubble and Chandra X-ray) by Adam Jesionkiewicz

This poster presents a stunning depiction of Stephan's Quintet, a visual grouping of five galaxies interacting gravitationally.

An enormous mosaic of Stephan’s Quintet is the largest image to date from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, covering about one-fifth of the Moon’s diameter.

How this image was created?

The artwork shown is a visualization of data from different telescopes, taken in different spectral lines. The visual grouping of five galaxies was captured by Webb’s Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam) and Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI), Hubble Space Telescope and Chandra X-ray Telescope.

The data was combined to create a consistent color and visual image, resulting in the richest informative representation of this object up to date.
