After 20 years of peering down a microscope as a Surgical Pathologist, Logan turned his gaze skyward, discovering a passion for astrophotography in 2019. He images the amazing Deep Sky objects of the Southern Hemisphere from his roll-off-roof observatory at home in New Zealand. More recently he has also been imaging with a rig in southern Spain to expand his reach into the Northern Hemisphere.

Logan collaborates with two international groups of amateur astrophotographers; one deticated to the searching for yet undiscovered nebulae; and the other group carrying out projects consisting of hundreds of hours of integration time to reveal hidden or rarely imaged features of known targets.

Unveil Cosmic Majesty: The Lion Nebula by Logan Carpenter

Step into the grandeur of the cosmos with Logan Carpenter's "The Lion Nebula Poster." Nestled 10,400 light years away in the illustrious Constellation of Cepheus, the Lion Nebula, SH2-132, majestically mimics the profile of the King of the Jungle. It's an awe-inspiring testament to the universe's artistry, painted across the night sky.

    A Symphony of Stellar Influence

At the heart of this celestial wonder lie hot and massive stars responsible for its vibrant ionization. Among them, the two remarkable Wolf-Rayet stars, HD 2115644 and HD 211853, contribute significantly to the nebula's intricate luminosity. Their powerful stellar winds sculpt the gases into the nebula's distinct form, creating a spectacle that captures both scientific and artistic fascination.

    A Vibrant Space Art

Drawn from an initial SHO combination, this nebula boasts a rich and varied color palette, a visual delight that elevates the joy of post-processing. The heavenly hues transform each view into a uniquely immersive experience, offering a glimpse into the mysterious beauty of deep space.
