Map of Everything by Pablo Carlos Budassi and logarithmic scale conception of the observable universe
This groundbreaking poster offers a detailed logarithmic portrayal of the entire observable universe, combining artistic innovation with the latest astronomical data. Updated as of May 2022 and based on research from Princeton University, this graphic expands human perception of the cosmos, mapping out known celestial objects from our local Solar System to distant galaxies formed shortly after the Big Bang.
The map employs a logarithmic scale to depict distances, ranging from astronomical units within our solar system to millions of parsecs for the farther reaches of the universe.
It highlights an array of celestial objects:
- Solar System
- Comets and asteroids
- Star systems and clusters
- Nebulae
- Galaxies, including the Milky Way and Andromeda Galaxy
- Galaxy clusters
- Cosmic microwave background—radiation leftover from the Big Bang
It all provides a comprehensive overview of our universe's known scope and beauty - with the Solar System at the center, inner and outer planets, Kuiper belt objects, Alpha Centauri, Perseus Arm, Milky Way galaxy, Andromeda galaxy, nearby galaxies, Cosmic Web, Cosmic microwave radiation and Big Bang's invisible plasma on the edge.
Distance from Earth increases exponentially from the center to the edge. Celestial bodies are shown enlarged to appreciate their shapes.
This poster is not only a visual marvel but also an educational tool that challenges and expands our understanding of the universe’s vastness. It is perfect for educators, astronomy enthusiasts, or anyone curious about the scale and depth of the cosmos.
