Unique view of our galaxy taken over the Namibian desert, under one of the darkest night sky of the world. Using panorama, and specific transformation of the spherical image, disk of the Milky Way looks like a ring over the small Earth. Thats the more than only a technique, that’s the image showing how small is our planet versus our galaxy.
On the centre of the photographs we can easily see the core of the Milky Way with the Scorpio and Rho Ophiuchi Nebula on the top of them. The brightest star on the photographs it is not a star but the Jupiter close to his opposition – what means that he was especially around the closest position to Earth. One of the best structures of the Milky Way on this photograph is the Great Rift (sometimes called the Dark Rift), it is a nearby dark dust clouds that significantly obscure the center and most radial sectors of the Milky Way galaxy from Earth’s perspective.
