The moon is without a doubt the most magical object in the night sky. Since the dawn of history, mankind has associated many myths and beliefs with it. Thanks to Astrography, you will now be able to admire it on your wall every day, in a record resolution of 222 megapixels.
The photo was taken on 25th March 2018 with a 16″ telescope and dedicated astronomical camera with a red filter. Effective focal length was 7.2 meters. The resolution of the illuminated part of the Moon in the photo was 222 megapixels. Such a large size was obtained by assembling a mosaic of 27 separate fragments. Perhaps the largest image of the Moon ever taken from the surface of the Earth, it shows craters several hundred meters in diameter, and the total size of the data used to process the photographs is over 170 gigabytes, recorded in 17 minutes.
The photograph of the illuminated part of the Moon was taken by Bartosz Wojczyński.
